Xaar celebrates fundraising achievements with charity partner Break

Industrial inkjet technology leader Xaar, has celebrated its two-year partnership with young people’s charity Break, having donated an amazing total of £71,544 over that period.

The company's commitment to supporting care experienced young people across the East of England through Break's initiatives has been a resounding success. This culminated in Xaar’s employees raising a staggering £35,772 to date, which was then doubled by the company’s generous matching policy.

Xaar’s team engaged in various activities to raise the impressive total - including a daring Firewalk, participation in the Cambridge Half Marathon, completing the One Million Step Challenge, hosting a Christmas event across all Group sites and taking part in a skydive.

Additionally, staff contributed by donating old clothes, selling Xaar-produced honey, and buying a variety of treats like cakes, beer, and spirits.

The funds raised have a direct impact on Break's mission to transform the lives of young people both in and leaving care. As such, a significant portion of the money has been allocated to Break's Building Futures programme, which helps to build young peoples skills in construction and DIY, helping young care leavers learn to furnish and look after their homes. This initiative is crucial, as 40% of young adults leaving care in the UK face the risk of homelessness.

Rachel Cowdry, CEO at Break, expressed her gratitude: "The incredible generosity and commitment of Xaar and their staff are making such a big difference in the lives of the young people we support. It will help us to continue giving care experience young people the love, support and ambition they deserve. We are thankful for this partnership and look forward to continuing our impactful work together."

‘Community’ is one of Xaar’s four sustainability pillars as outlined in its Sustainability Roadmap to 2030. The business recently launched its first Sustainability Report, highlighting the transformative progress made towards the objectives set and the positive impacts that have been delivered for customers, suppliers, employees, and local communities.

Xaar has already announced a lineup of fundraising activities for the next 12 months, including adrenaline-filled tests such as bungee jumping and the three peaks challenge, as well as more accessible events like the inflatable 5k and a summer fun day. Both half and full marathons are also on the agenda, offering something for everyone eager to contribute to this worthy cause.

Commenting on the successful relationship with Break, Xaar’s CEO John Mills said: “Over the past two years our Charity Champions and the wider team at Xaar have excelled themselves in helping support disadvantaged young children by raising such a fantastic amount for Break. We are delighted to continue working alongside this worthy charity as part of our Sustainability Roadmap and look forward to the wide range of activities taking place over the next 12 months.”
